About InkDay

InkDay is a small daily almanac of English literature. Each day it shows which writers were born or died on that date, and links to places where their books can be read free.

Where the facts come from

Names, dates and birthplaces come from Wikidata, which is released under CC0. Portraits come from Wikimedia Commons; each author's page links to the licence of its image. Free books are linked from Project Gutenberg and Open Library.

How it updates

The site is rebuilt every day, so the "today" page always shows the current date. The author list is refreshed from Wikidata on a slower schedule.
