Facts

Names, dates, birthplaces and the one-line descriptions come from Wikidata, released under CC0.

Portraits

Portraits are files from Wikimedia Commons. Each file has its own licence. InkDay shows a portrait only when its licence is public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA, and prints the photographer and licence beside it. The pictures are copies resized for this site and stored with it, so your browser does not contact Wikimedia. When a file does not qualify, or is not a picture of the person, initials are shown instead.

If you are the author of a photograph shown here and want it credited differently or removed, see the Privacy page for how to reach me.

Books

Links to read books free go to Project Gutenberg and Open Library. InkDay shows only the opening of some public-domain books (authors who died before 1956) and links to the full text there; it does not host whole books. Quotes come from Wikiquote (CC BY-SA 4.0), poems from PoetryDB, map tiles from OpenStreetMap, and new-book dates, descriptions and covers from Google Books.
